Pierce is top honcho in charge of the fifteen hundred acre ranch, Bonner-Willow. Although he owns a Master’s in business administration, he loves to be around horses. He considers himself more of a cowboy than a CEO.

She turns to Pierce, the dark hair and blue eyed hunk whom Kat believes, thinks he is God's gift to women.

I am so very proud to announce to you that today is the release day of FORTUNE CALLING by one of my favorite Authors, Hunter. S. Jones. The latest contribution to her oeuvre is now available on Amazon, so be sure to get this short but powerful story!

Fortune Calling

The first installment in The Fortune Series.

The Story of Dallas Fortune.

Guitars. Hillbilly Music. Nashville, Tennessee.

Dallas Fortune is a small town girl with a gift for playing guitar. A member of her family has played the Grand Ol Opry since it began as a simple radio show in 1925. But, they are the minstrels, the troubadours--session players--not stars.
Dallas lives her life on the road. She’s just another guitar player with a dream until she finds an antique blue mandolin in a pawn shop. Her life comes into focus as the enchantment of the mandolin captivates her audiences. The Guitar God of Nashville beckons her. Everything is there for Dallas at last, until a stage accident sends her home and shatters her dreams. Blow after blow she fights the hand of fate. Is she destined to lose out in life? Hope, dreams, and love seem to be just out of reach. Every girl dreams of a happy ending. Dallas Fortune has the best Fairy Godmother in Country Music history. Will she help make Dallas’ dreams come true?
Is the future among the stars, in the cards or locked in your heart?

I love anything that Hunter S. Jones writes and this book was no exception! In fact so much so, that I had to immediately email her to ask if the characters were real musicians and artists.
The book was well written and very realistic. Dallas Fortune is on a mission of self-discovery after a terrible accident two years prior had killed her dream of touring with the biggest Country singer of all time. Her relationship with the love of her life, (which had been on and off with for almost twenty years), had ended once again. She is lost. As she contemplates her past failures and missed opportunities, she sees a bright neon sign on a building she passes. She takes it as a sign that she is meant to enter that building and have her future foretold. Once inside she meets a very handsome fortune teller and he reveals to her the very thing she had been waiting for. Does his prediction come true?
The ending lends a moral to the story and a lesson we can all learn from.
My only disappointment was that (TO ME) the story felt a bit flat, with no build up, no climax and no twists to speak of. Having said that, it is still a wonderful story with a life lesson learned!  Even though this is what I consider a booklet (17 pages in total) it is part of a series, so there will be more to come, which I am looking forward to.

Writer. Exile on Peachtree Street.
Lover of all the finer things in life.
The art form I create when writing is much more interesting than anything you will ever know or learn about me. However, since you ask, I have lived in Tennessee and Georgia my entire life, except for one “lost summer” spent in Los Angeles. I was always a complex kid. My first published stories were for a local underground rock publication in Nashville. Since then, I have published articles on music, fashion, art, travel and history.
Currently, I have a music/entertainment blog My debut novella, Fables of the Reconstruction, was published in 2012.  Moon Rose Publishing included my novella, Magic in Memphis, available as a short story on Amazon, in their anthology, A Celtic Collection.
Edgar Allan Poe and Anne Rice have always fascinated me, although like any Southern girl, I will always idolize Margaret Mitchell for writing Gone With The Wind. I also adore the works of John Grisham, and own a huge selection of his books. I live in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia with my husband, my books, too many clothes, too many shoes and way too many stacks of notepads and journals.
October 2013 saw the launch of a novel collaboration, SEPTEMBER ENDS, contemporary fiction laced with romance, erotic and supernatural elements, bound by poetry. This novel is written with an anonymous English poet. SEPTEMBER ENDS has been labeled an “Indie Sensation” due the critical reception and international recognition the novel has received.
My newest venture is The Fortune Series. The Story of Dallas Fortune. This collection will be a series of short stories and novelettes chronicling the lives and loves of Dallas Fortune.
Much more is on the way in 2014. Follow me to get all the latest announcements and updates.

"Katherine put her vanity case on the floor at the end of the bed. She glanced around at the cluttered bedroom. Her suitcases were standing neatly in front of the oversized wardrobe.
She smiled as she glanced around the room. The apartment was huge and she knew that it would soon have a 'homely' feel to it but she felt a little regretful that Axle had forced the issue of her moving from her old place. She had been happy there.
The main door closed and she heard Axle go into the kitchen. Katherine smiled to herself and walked out into the hall.
"Sweet and sour OK?" Axle asked as she came into the kitchen. She nodded and took down two large wine glasses and picked up the bottle of wine and poured it into them. "Chin chin," Axle said grinning as he took the glass from her.
"Cheers," Katherine replied and took a sip. It was delicious and its pear notes danced delicately on her tongue. The wine came from Axle's vineyard in Cape Point.
"Come here," said Axle as he put his glass down. Katherine looked at him longingly as she went over to him. "Are you happy kitten?" He asked as he took her in his arms. She closed her eyes as she felt him nuzzle her neck. She was happy, happier than she had ever been. She was with him.
"Yes," Katherine whispered as she put her arms around his neck and kissed him softly on the mouth. "I can't believe we've moved in together Axle." Axle kissed her on the mouth.
"Our first home baby." He said between kisses and she giggled. "We should make love right here in the kitchen." Axle teased.
"We don't have time," Katherine said breaking away from him.
"Why don't we have time?" He asked as he picked up his glass of wine. Katherine sighed audibly. "What?" Axle asked.
"Oh Axle," Katherine said taking a forkful of sweet and sour chicken. "My office party, you can't have forgotten." She had been looking forward to it and even more so when he told her he would be in town and would be able to go with her.
"Kath, I totally forgot," he said regretfully. "I can't make it tonight." She sighed audibly.
"What could possibly be more important tonight eh?" Katherine demanded.
""I have to go over some papers for that meeting tomorrow." Axle said and reached out to touch her arm but she pulled away from him. "Kath have you forgotten why I'm back in London?" He asked gently. She shook her head.
How could she forget, he reminded her every time he had to have dinner with an executive or his lawyer and his insistence that the matter was too delicate to discuss in front of her. "Baby I'll make it up to you tomorrow night." Axle said as he put his arms around her and she let him kiss her.
"How can you Axle?" Katherine asked in a low tone. "The party is tonight." He tilted her chin to look at him.
"Kath, I am sorry." He said gently. "I have been insensitive to your needs this trip haven't I?" She nodded. "I'm so caught up in my own world right now, and I forget we only have a short time together when I'm in town." She could feel the tears well up in her eyes. He kissed her eyes and smiled. "Hey what advantages are there being the boss if he has to disappoint his beautiful girlfriend huh?" Axle kissed her again on the mouth...."

If nothing else, this promises to be a sexy read to escape the daily grind!! Get your copy today!

My weekend  guest is Thomas Ryan! He is a very talented author. Oh my bad..I mean story teller!

After I read the synopsis on his book 'The Field of Blackbirds', I was inspired to give him a promo worthy of this B.R.A.G Medallion award winner!
So with all the pomp and ceremony in maginificent splendour, here is my very own Award Ceremony!

In my Versace red gown I step onto the stage. A thunderous applause explodes as I smile and wave to the crowd. The stage lights are hot, the spotlight is blinding and my thong is cutting into my ass, but I graciously step up to the podium, ignoring my own discomfort. I pause and wait for the applause to die down.
"Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to the BIRDIE Awards!" The crowd whistles and clap. The women are animatedly amused while the men are standing up, nodding in approval. Their ovation takes me by surprise, but I soon realise it's because my left nipple wanted to see what all the excitement was about and peeked out. I adjust my halter neck to cover the little fellow and return my attention to the disappointed crowd. Yes, even the women loved what they saw.
"The prestigious BIRDIE Awards are presented each year to the author with the best bird name referenced in his book's title."
The crowd applause obligingly. I haven't even started the evening and they look bored stiff already. I shake things up a bit.
"This year's nominees include book titles that the famous author Groucho Marx would remark: 'From the moment I picked it up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter'. Someday I intend on reading it." There is a burst of laughter followed by a generous applause. I look down to check my boobs. Nope, that was all me.
"Other book titles were so bad it made the The World's Most Motivated Postal Workers look like less of a joke." The crowd erupt in rapturous laughter. I call out each title of the nominees in between brief pauses.
"This year's nominees are: How to Resuscitate a Mockingbird. Up At Sparrow's Fart. My Mother-in-law is a Cackling Goose. The Hawks Of Time. The Field of Blackbirds."
You can cut the anticipation in the room with a blunt blade. I decide to drag it out a little...
"This Author was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He has been a soldier in a theatre of war, traded in Eastern Europe, trampled the jungles of Asia, and struggled through the trials of love and loss; ideal life experiences for a would be author. Schooled by professionals, who have helped him hone his literary skills, he is quickly establishing himself as a skilled writer of thriller novels and short stories. He considers himself foremost, a story teller, a creator who has enthusiastically plunged his psyche into the world of creativity and fantasy. With the reader in mind he weaves colourful characters into the threads of his riveting storylines. Taking readers on a thrilling journey is what motivates him as a writer." The suspense is killing even me....
"Ladies and Gentlemen. The winner of this year's BIRDIE Award is...THE FIELD OF BLACKBIRDS BY THOMAS RYAN!!!"
A big picture of his book appears on the screen behind me. The crowd goes wild!

Thomas steps up to the stage. He waves at his fans as he makes his way to the podium alongside me. He takes the award and I peck the (obviously stunned) winner on his cheek. I rush back stage to adjust my homicidal thong while he waits for the applause to settle and make his speech.
"Thank you very much to everyone who voted for my book title. I am humbled to receive this award" He says. "Writing this book was a very rewarding experience and very eye opening indeed.
When his vineyard manager, Arben Shala disappears in Eastern Europe, ex- special forces soldier, Jeff Bradley, now a vintner, promises Arben’s wife he will find her husband and bring him home. He travels to the UN administered Serbian province of Kosovo and with help from American Morgan Delaney, Barry Briggs an Australian working with the UN and the enigmatic Lee Caldwell an agent for the world’s largest private security firm, Jeff uncovers a criminal conspiracy responsible for a series of bombings across Europe. Ignoring death threats Jeff and Morgan dig deeper and when the shocking truth behind Arben’s disappearance is finally uncovered it sets in motion a chain of events that brings Serbian province to the brink of civil war and NATO troops onto the streets of Kosovo’s major cities. Jeff must now call on his military expertise if he is to keep himself and Morgan alive. My book has been described as a gripping, fast paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, as you continue to flip through the pages of the novel, unable to stop your need to know what is going to happen next. The action and danger is believable and written in a knowledgeable way. This book is great at interweaving international agencies and real life situations into the fabric of the story, creating an unnerving tale that bounces off of the pages as if you were right there running along the streets with Jeff and Morgan.
I was told that I did an excellent job describing the settings, and all of the characters are intricately developed, so that you are rooting for the heroes, and begging for the villains to receive the punishments they deserve. The Field of Blackbirds is an action packed thriller that you won’t want to put down."
Before he can continue the brass band starts playing a tune to cue the end of his speech, as they do at these things. Thomas screams out a big "thank you" and raises the award in the air as he walks off stage.

Join the after party!!

Get your memento of this great night!

Barnes & Noble:

In case you were wondering...After the BIRDIE Awards, my thong won the battle and I was forced to take my chaffed ass home and not attend the after party. Thomas went on to be the toast of the town for several weeks after that with a busy social schedule, but still finds time to write more.

Salford Sunrise is a well-crafted, brilliantly witty, high velocity tale of intrigue, sex and betrayal. Dialogue driven, the story has been taken and adapted from the chronicles of James Sutherland and spans over fifty years of one man’s life, a life dedicated to serving without question those whose responsibility it is to defend the realm by any means at their disposal.

Jimmy Sutherland’s story begins in war-ravaged Salford and tells of his schooling in weaponry by Owen Kelly, a WW2 veteran sniper. Throughout his distinguished career, Jimmy carries out numerous assassinations for his taskmaster and controller Frank Steadman. Now retired, Jimmy receives news of the release from prison of crime lord Hector Cicero, the brutal murderer of his brother, Billy. The scene is now set for what becomes a searing quest for vengeance, culminating in a vicious gangland battle for supremacy of the northwest of England. Aided by Andy Cassin, his old and trusted childhood friend whose brother was also murdered by Hector Cicero, Jimmy Sutherland takes on both the Cicero and McGuire crime cartels with devastating consequences.

‘Operation Spanner’ was the codename of an undercover investigation carried out by Manchester City Police, in 1988. Dark, sultry and according to her superiors, a bit of a handful, she had been tipped by her Commanding Officer to win the prestigious award of undercover policewoman of the year. But first she had to infiltrate a ring of local luminaries lead by amateur film maker ‘Uncle Albert’ and resident Magistrate Hilda Carstairs, who were believed to operate a lucrative business catering for the slaves of‘leather and steel’. Lady Carolyne Dryden is a brilliant and gifted young woman operating a policy auction house in London for her father. Late one evening she is brutally raped, robbed ,and left to die. A few days later two bodies are found in the same house the assault took place. Others follow and a sewer of corruption contained beneath the razzamatazz of a General Election leads to shattering revelations and murderous passions; turning her well-organised world into an arena of pursuit and terror, where the only certainty is that nothing is certain. Bursting with insight into the seedy, sleazy world of political funding, Foxy Lady leads the reader totally believing through all its unbelievable twists and turns until its astonishing climax.
When oiled with slime, the wheels of sleaze turn silently.

October 8, 1967, ‘Che’ Ernesto Guevara was executed… Or so the world believed.
Inspired by a true sequence of events, ’Lallapaloosa’ tells in flashback the story leading up to the betrayal and ‘capture’ of the worlds most famous revolutionary and master of disguise.
Original, fast moving, and atmospheric to the last whiff of a Partagas cigar, it begins thirty years after the event with a series of sinister murders against a fraternity of retired mercenaries who, having fought alongside ‘Che’in the Congo, grouped for one last mission in the jungles of Bolivia.
For thirty years, Richard Strang, thought he shared the worlds best kept secret with no one. Then one summer evening, the tap of a blind man’s cane, and a nose for the toasted Cuban leaf, changed all that.

This week my Author of the Week is the amazing Rags Daniels.

This fascinating man recently suffered a stroke, but his legend continues in the books he had written. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the eccentric and original RAGS DANIELS.

Rags Daniels was Born into a working class family, the second of four children in Salford 1944. He migrated South 1956. Wild and curious, he ran off to London, where he met the majority of the characters he writes about.

The swinging sixties and early seventies played a major roll in his insatiable thirst for adventure, and against a backdrop of mini-skirts, mod’s, rockers and Muhammad Ali, bore witness to an era of crazy fads, culminating in Britain’s first ever woman Prime Minister in 1979. And of whom Lord Acton said, ‘Absolute power corrupts absolutely, ’ and by the end of her era, Thatcher was case in point. And while the Nation paddled through rubbish, bodies unburied, strikes, power cuts, spiralling inflation, limited working weeks, abysmal production, etc, etc, the real money was going into the pockets of fraudulent corporate boards and City Yuppies. (Groomed to Kill), his first book was written against a backdrop of inner city poverty and tells of lad who became a government assassin.

Rags worked in Norway on timber frame construction, where he met John Millen, a naval architect who designed Pearl Harbour after the war. He became a ‘minder’ for his mother-in-law, both on and off his motor yacht in which he and his wife toured the world. Returning home, he then attended Brunel University and passed I.O.C.W.(GB) exams. Rags started working with Borough Architects Dept.; resigned; got married and built his own house in South Devon while running several companies. He has also constructed a steel mill in India and a tiger compound in Nepal for the World Wildlife Trust.

When widowed, he returned to writing and investigative journalism… It is from his diaries of the 60’s and 70’s he wrote ‘Foxy Lady’, creating a fictional account of one such tale of political intrigue, and one for which he was interviewed by M-I6. His latest book ‘Salford Sunrise’, is ready for publishing. And ‘Lallapaloosa’ is currently being scripted for the silver screen. He resides with his son, an A level English teacher, and Roxzan, his 13 year old adopted Granddaughter.

An Italian woman, a cop and a Gypsy woman.... no, it's not the beginning of a joke. It is some of the cast of characters in the book Gemini Moon by Maria Grazia Swan.

For the next 3 days I'll be promoting this highly intriguing book. Just so you can buy the book and get thrown into a world of twists, turns and knarley surprises.

When Italian-born widow Lella York gives her best friend’s birthdate to a gypsy, casting charts on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, the last thing she expects to hear is that the chart belongs to a dead woman.
But the prediction might already be true, as Lella learns when she arrives home to Orange County, California where Ruby has gone missing. The whole world seems turned upside down. To her horror, Lella’s own son is arrested for kidnapping Ruby, and no one knows if her friend is dead or alive. The mysterious drowning of a woman in Arizona seems an unrelated matter according to her lover, the homicide detective investigating the case. Yet even as Lella catches him in small lies and half truths, his sweet deceptions seduce her as effectively as his lovemaking. All alone on a stormy night she finally comes face to face with the terrible reality of what’s happened. Has her soul always known the truth? Can her heart possibly heal from the brutal wounds? Will Lella even survive her connection to the exotic, dangerous woman born under a Gemini Moon?

5.0 out of 5 stars Danger, Mystery, Romance. December 23, 2013

REVIEW By S. J. Smith
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Maria Grazia Swan has a knack for pulling the reader into the character then taking both for a little ride down Who-Dunnit Lane. Lella York is widowed, trying to determine who she is without her spouse. A trip to her beloved Italy doesn't help, drawing even more memories of things past into her heart and mind. On the last night of her trip, a gypsy casts an astrological chart, conveying the ominous message he's just cast the chart of a dead woman. If Lella is to believe the gypsy, the dead woman in question is Lella's best friend, Ruby. Is Ruby really dead? She's certainly missing. If alive, is she even still Lella's friend? Everything is upside down when Lella returns home to Southern California. Ruby's husband has died of a gunshot wound. Ruby's gone missing. Lella's son has been implicated and arrested for kidnapping. And now, someone's stalking Lella. Caught in the middle of it all, Lella stumbles across the perfect topper--namely, a sexy police detective who keeps secrets from her while he's setting her pants on fire. Nothing like a little romance to distract a girl while she's trying to locate a missing person, solve a possible homicide, get her son out of jail and stay two steps ahead of danger. It's a deftly plotted, satisfying read. Buy it. You'll like it.

Maria Grazia Swan was born in Italy, but this rolling stone has definitely gathered no moss. She lived in Belgium, France, Germany, in beautiful Orange County, California where she raised her family, and is currently at home in Phoenix, Arizona—but stay tuned for weekly updates of Where in the World is Maria Grazia Swan?
As a young girl, her vivid imagination predestined her to be a writer. She won her first literary award at the age of fourteen while living in Belgium. As a young woman Maria returned to Italy to design for—ooh-la-la—haute couture. Once in the U.S. and after years of concentrating on family, she tackled real estate. These days her time is devoted to her deepest passions: writing and helping people find happiness.
Maria loves travel, opera, good books, hiking, and intelligent movies (if she can find one, that is). When asked about her idea of a perfect evening, she favors stimulating conversation, tasty Italian food and perfectly chilled Prosecco—but then, who doesn’t?
Maria has written short stories for anthologies, articles for high profile magazines and numerous blogs tackling love and life. She engaged her editorial and non-fiction skills for Mating Dance-Rituals for Singles Who Weren’t Born Yesterday. Her romantic suspense novels Love Thy Sister and Bosom Bodies are available at

I tend to do my crying in the car.
On this starless, moonless night, without a car or a Beatles song to cry to, I spent my last night in Florence, Italy, as anonymous as any other tourist.
An outsider in my motherland.
I stamped my feet on the old bridge, trying to keep warm. Memories of Nick and our last time in Italy filled my head and pained my heart.
The glow of a candle caught my attention. On impulse, I crossed Ponte Vecchio and walked toward the man sitting by the candle, the heels of my boots clicking against the quarry slabs. The stranger didn't move. He stared at the worn book that lay in front of him on a table covered in red velvet.
Around us, Florence's underground nighttime economy thrived. Peddlers displayed their wares and called out to the tourists on the walkway. Most of the sellers were African and donned colorful native cottons. The smart ones wore overcoats.
The candle flickered in the wind and cast leaping shadows on the man's bony face. Thick lashes framed his eyes and a deep furrow crossed his forehead. I stood, intrigued yet hesitant. Cold sneaked down the back of my neck and spine. I pulled the collar of my mohair coat up to my chin. The fuzzy wool chafed my skin.
"What are you selling?" I asked in Italian.
He focused his dark eyes on me. Their intensity reminded me of my friend Ruby's eyes.
"I am an astrologer." He returned his attention to his book.
"You are?" I felt silly, not sure why. "Quanto costa?"
"Ten euros." About $15. A pittance.
"Va bene."

It's the weekeeeeeend baby!! You know what I going to do? I'm going to shine my limelight on the book called Dark Light.
So switch off all the lights, make yourself cosy and get ready for the reveal of the second book in the Web of Light Duology. It's entertainment at it's best!

The Web of Light, a magical force lost for three hundred years, has been recovered by the heirs of the land of Solice. But its return bears a heavy price. A price that will be paid in blood.
Seva and Valdor have fled to the Outlands, where an unanswered question drives them apart. And as Valdor seeks to prove his worth, Seva struggles to control the power threatening to consume her.
But the web is not what it seems and by the time the truth is discovered, it may be too late.

Small stones rose from the brook bed and floated around Seva. She arranged them into circles and sent them spinning. Droplets of water flew through the air. Behind her eyes, a dull throbbing thrummed.
This was the sort of magic she’d been practising even by herself. The sort of thing most Gari-Za could probably do. The headaches had returned, keeping her awake at night, and the queasy feeling in her stomach made it hard to eat.
She set the stones spinning faster, until they were nothing but streaking gray blurs. The faces of the Gari-Za thinned and bulged when seen through the whirling stones. Nightmare faces. Her stomach rolled.
They want a show. The words came from inside Seva’s own mind and they sounded like her words, only it felt as if someone else was speaking them. Throw the stones into the crowd. Show them what you are. You’ll feel better. No more headache. No more sickness. Only bliss. It would be so easy. All you have to do is push.
No! The thought shouted across her mind. I am not going to kill anyone. The surface of the brook began to bubble as Seva directed her magic at it. Steam rose up, further blurring the world around her until she wondered if this really was a dream. A light feeling swept over her. It seemed as if she could float away like a cloud.
The throbbing behind her eyes became a pounding. Something was pulling apart inside of her. The stones shivered like small animals trying to escape her grasp. She was losing control as the urge to strike out, to cause pain and mayhem, grew stronger.

Rose is tired of her and her family being hunted, so she decides to do the hunting herself and takes Cortne along with her. They end up taking a few detours along the way, learning more about Rose’s past and her family. Does being a Sun Witch add more problems to her life or does it make it easier? Facing severe fatigue and needing to feed frequently makes the hunt more difficult. They already found the traitor in the family, or did they? Is everyone who they appear to be? Has her family been honest with her? Has she been honest with herself? Are friends truly friends or are they enemies lying in wait? The extreme fatigue and unexplained need to feed creates more problems for Rose.

I was born in Houston, Texas in 1977, to an interesting family. My mother and father separated when I was young. I lived with my mother who later remarried a wonderful man, who had a huge impact on me as I grew up. I have always had a love of reading, mostly paranormal. As a child, I would sneak up at late night, when my mom thought I was sleeping, to read. We moved around a lot, eventually settling in Deep East Texas. I married at a young age and eventually divorced. I have raised my now 16 year old son alone. I work full time as a pre-hospital nurse and sometimes see things that would make the rest of you have nightmares. On other days, I'm blessed to see miracles. These things are what drive me to write. I describe my job as- “I fight to save people’s lives. Sometimes I lose, sometimes I win. It's the emotional roller coaster of that job, which leads me to writing. I'm able to put those emotions into my characters and let them out of my heart and soul.” In late 2006, early 2007, I was diagnosed with a rare disease, shortly after that I was told I would be on full disability in five years and most likely to be dead in ten. I've fought to live a normal life every day since and I'm beating those odds. I work at a demanding job, I'm a single mom, care for an elderly mother, and two hyperactive dogs. On April 17, 2013 I faced another challenge in my life when my home was destroyed in the explosion in West, TX. I lost many friends and almost everything I own. Once again I have fought to get through it and I'm finally starting to feel normal again.

We walked to the front door, the guard tried to refuse, but that wasn’t going to stop me. I caught myself rolling my eyes; a mere mortal to guard against me and a wolf. At first, I was just going to toss him with magic, instead I grabbed him by his arms and drug him to me, sinking my fangs in deep, in a matter of seconds I had drained him, killed him. It was my first kill that way. I didn’t care, he was helping hurt my family. Cortne didn’t say a word. If she only knew how much more blood I wanted. I felt like I was starving. It had to wait though, I had to get my family. We took the stairs but disabled the elevators before leaving the lobby. We quickly and easily cleared floor two, where I drank from two more, until Cortne stopped me. This repeated through floor twelve. We’d clear it and I’d drink two people to near death before Cortne would stop me. On eleven she finally asked, “Damn, haven’t you had enough yet?”

“No,” I answered as we stepped into the stairwell and headed up to twelve. I opened the door and froze. I smelled blood. Blood I recognized, three actually, Clayton, Caleb and Josh. It took a conscious effort not to just level the place. I knew if I did, I may very well kill them. Instead, I reached for Josh. “Josh?”
