THERE IS NO RIVAL TO REVELRY!

Title: Revelry
Series: Taint #1
Author: Carmen Jenner
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: May 25, 2015

Blurb

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.

She’s not even loved by her cat. Can they ignore their hatred long enough to survive the tour from hell? Or will their chemistry force everything to come crashing down around them?

Excerpt

My vision is partly obstructed by Ali, but the sight of her head bobbing as she takes him in her mouth is all I need to know what’s going on. Levi meets my gaze across the limo. There’s gloating there—that much is obvious—but there’s also understanding. When you spend as much time together as we do, you come to know your bandmates pretty well. For all his talk, he’s not as big of a douche as he claims to be. He may not ever sleep with the same woman more than once—with the exception of Ali, I guess—but I know he’s not immune to the loneliness our lifestyle creates. It’s strange how you can be adored by millions and yet completely alone all at the same time.

He slides his hand into her hair and closes his eyes, throwing his head back against the seat.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whispers, and then he gathers her hair to the side and shifts her body so that my view is completely unobstructed. I watch as she works her hands up his shaft in time with her mouth. He doesn’t attempt to fuck the back of her throat and make her choke on it, the way we both had that first night we fucked her. Instead, his touch is gentle. Reverent.

It makes me crazy, and hot as fucking hell. I shift uncomfortably, adjusting my cock within my jeans. I don’t make a move towards them, though I want to. I want to bury myself inside her and mark her as mine, but at this point the lines are so fucking blurred it doesn’t matter whom she belongs to. Him. Me. The both of us, or neither one.

I lean forward, taking a glass from the shelf and a crystal decanter filled with amber liquor, and I pour myself a drink, and then I slide back into the leather to watch.

“Play with yourself, Red,” he whispers.

“No.”

“Do it,” I say, and she turns around to glare at me. I can’t tell if she’s disappointed I’m not joining in, or if she forgot I was even here.

“I don’t want—”

“Why are you suddenly so embarrassed?” I say sharply, swigging back more of the scotch than I should.

“I’m not embarrassed. I’d actually rather that you joined in.”
“I’m watching,” I say, eyeing her coolly over my glass. She scowls at me a moment and then she kneels up, steadying herself with one hand on Levi’s thigh. She wriggles her skirt up over her hips and bends over. Everything is on display as she takes him in her mouth again. I close my eyes, not wanting to watch her on her knees in front of him, her head bent low, her full fuck-me lips wrapped around Levi’s cock. I feel as if I’m on a ride that’s spinning out of control and I can’t find a way off. I can’t make it stop. And I so badly want it to stop.

Book Excerpts

Excerpt #1
"I thought I'd go out front and see if Vern needed any help," Cory said.
"He's all done," Cook said and handed Garth a dog biscuit from a jar on the counter. "He had a young man out front helping him when I peeked out the window."
"A young man? You mean Jasper?"
"No, I've never seen this one around here before." Cook went back to her pot. "Handsome, though," she added. "They headed for the barn."
"I better go see who it is," Cory said, already striding for the back door.
She called out as soon as she reached the barn, and Vern hollered from his small office at the back. Cory threaded her way through all the equipment in the back half of the barn and stopped dead in the doorway of the shop that doubled as Vern's small office.
Cook's stranger stood up when she appeared in the doorway and literally took Cory's breath away.
Shaggy hair and dark brown curls perfectly teamed with a matching beard was her first thought. Her second thought was broad -- really broad -- shoulders beneath his black flannel shirt, and hips so narrow his black jeans sagged a bit on his frame. His sleeves were rolled up, and those forearms and biceps belonged to a working man.
Good grief! Stop staring Cory!
She jerked her gaze to his face, and blue eyes stared back. Blue eyes that caught her gaze like a predator traps prey. Blue eyes that twinkled with just enough devilment to cause a wicked flutter in her belly. Blue eyes that looked startlingly familiar.
Maybe she just wanted them to look familiar, so she could already know this handsome man.
"Mac here is our new help."
She heard Vern's voice and fought to break free of that predatory stare. No time for one last once-over.
"Wh-what?" She forced her eyes to Vern who grinned at her.
What had she missed?
"I said... Mac here is our new help," Vern repeated slowly enough she felt her cheeks flush at having been caught not paying attention.
"New help?" She blurted.
She couldn't afford the help she had let alone new help.
"I need him," Vern said flatly.
"You need--" She cleared her throat. "Vern can I talk to you in private. Please?"
She backed out of the office and headed for the horse stalls. Not hearing Vern behind her, she turned. He'd stopped just outside the office door and didn't look as though he intended to move any farther, so she stomped back.
"We can't afford him," she hissed.
"He'll work for next to nothing as long as we let him stay," Vern said in a normal and much-too-loud voice.
So much for discussing the stranger privately.
"Why is that? No one works for nothing," she argued.
She still kept her voice down. The stranger may figure out what they were saying, but she didn't have to make it easy for him.
Vern shrugged. "Says he likes it here. Wants to stay a while."

When Hailey stumbles upon a backpack full of money on her nightly jog, she is forced to flee the security of her secret identity. Although the sudden appearance of a man that had been flirting with her earlier seems odd, Hailey accepts Parker’s help in getting the heavy bag home. Within moments of arriving, they escape under gunfire. The men it was intended for want it back, and Hailey has now made herself a target. Safe in a motel room, the two of them discover the truth: although their meeting was an accident, Parker had been involved in the bag’s drop and she had been his assignment all along. Now, getting Hailey away safely is Parker’s new mission. Together they struggle to put together the pieces of Hailey’s past and discover that they have more in common than they thought.

“Exactly what is the plan here?” I asked after another long sip of beer.

“I’m not exactly sure now. The money is definitely not going to do what it was supposed to, and you have no business being involved in all of this.”
“Pardon me, but that’s your fault.”

“Let’s not do this again, okay? Are you forgetting I chose you over the money?”

My eyes lowered. “No. I’m really not sure of the etiquette on how many times I’m supposed to thank you for that.”

“Let’s drop it. What’s done is done. I need to figure out what to do from here. How to get back on track and get you somewhere safe.” I walked over to the small refrigerator for another beer. “Parker? Is there a chance I can make a phone call?”

“That depends. You going to try to signal for help?”

“No. I…I think I need to let my mom know I’m okay. She normally calls me on Saturdays for an update. I’m worried she’ll think something is wrong if I don’t call soon.”

“We’ll go get you your makeup or whatever you want, and I’ll get a new throwaway phone. You can call her from that. No giving away anything about our location.”

I was getting tired of all this cloak-and-dagger shit. It was wearing on my last nerve. “Who exactly is following you? What was the money for, Parker? Or Gavin. Whatever your name is! This is no longer funny! You think they’d tap my mother’s phone?” I rushed his chair and landed both hands hard on his chest. He grasped my wrists and held them tight as he stood.

“Whoa! Why would you think someone would want you back so bad as to post someone on your mother?”

I shook my arms, trying to get free. “Let me go.”

“You going to be civil?”

“Yes. Please let me go.”

Too nervous now to return to the chair, I stood and peered out of the crack in the curtain. “I need to know something and I need the truth.” I faced him, needing to look into his eyes. The eyes always give it away.

“Fire away.” He motioned that I should carry on with a wave of his hand.

“I think I tripped on this money by accident, but I need to know if I was set up.”

“You? Set up? Why do you think you were set up? How could I have possibly pulled that off?”

“Things just don’t add up. We flee under gunfire…you save me but don’t take the money…”

“Back up. What do you know that you think someone would pay a million bucks for?”

“More like kill me for it.”

Book Excerpts

Dark Hearts

“Wanna play a game?” She bit her lip shyly after asking.
“I don’t know if I can stand it,” Mitch responded. He wanted to crawl all over her and was barely controlling his inner beast as it was. Every second was agony. Especially after the kiss that was more intoxicating than any of the liquor he’d drank that evening.
“You can. Call it an exercise in control.” She giggled.
“Okay. What do you wanna play?”
            “Truth.”
            “Truth or dare?”
“Nope, just truth. If you don’t answer, you have to take a shot. Deal?”
            “Deal.”
“I go first. What are your parents like?”
“Um, my father’s dead. A Seeker killed him. My mother lives with the pack and is very overprotective since his death.” The pain of that fact threatened to bubble to the surface. Mitch caught it before it could overcome him and pressed it neatly down into his internal backpack of bad shit that had happened to him and his family because of who they were.
“Seekers hunt your kind too?” Her eyes softened in the warm glow of the candle.
“Nuh uh. My turn. Are you close to your father since . . . he’s a demon?”
She rolled her eyes, the pain in them so evident, Mitch could hardly stand it.
“I’ll drink,” she said. Instead of picking up her cup, she drank straight from the bottle.
“Okay. Your turn then,” he said. Mitch leaned onto his side, watching her. With her every action, his attraction grew more and more.
“So again, Seekers hunt your kind, too?” she pressed on.
“Yes. The pack moves every now and then, but as we’ve learned to hunt down their kind, the attacks are growing fewer,” he responded. “Are you evil?”
“I think we’re all evil to a certain degree. I just have a little harder time controlling mine,” she said.
“Let’s go a little lighter. What’s your major,” he asked.
“Theology. Ironic, right?”
“A little. Mind if I ask you why? It doesn’t seem like you’d want to study religion.”
“Call it curious. It helps me understand all this. It’s hard to be a demon estranged from other demons and not be curious, you know? Are you tired of playing this game?” she asked, her eyes somehow flashing him in the darkness beneath lowered lids.
Aurora stood before him, slipping her dress from her body. She stood in front of him in a black lace bra with her firm tits spilling from their cups and a pair of matching lace panties. He could see the print of her vulva protruding, the split of her making him hard.
“Yeah, you could say that,” he said, his voice barely recognizable to his own ears.

Hunting Witch Hazel:

To be fair, my eyes were a bit unnerving. They were just a little too purple to be considered blue. But everyone just assumed they were contacts. Nope - just witch.
While I had the witch coloring and could make potions, I was now more of a healer than a spell caster. Not by choice. I’ve had to sell off some of my power over the years when my payments were behind.
I didn’t miss it too much.
                No, I’m lying.
I missed it like crazy. But I had never been able to create a spell to do my homework or my dishes to save my life - and it was definitely not for a lack of trying. Still, even weakened, I could help lost pets find their owners, successfully predict playoff scores within three points, and hopefully prevent my best friend from turning into a werewolf with the upcoming full moon. Even if he was doing it for a girl. A half-demon girl. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Aurora, but a werewolf and a demon together was more drama than I ever wanted to deal with.
Grayson took another step closer, completely invading my personal bubble. “I’m so sorry.” He was officially too close and I didn’t like it.
                No. I’m lying again.
I was a big fat liar.
                Come closer.
“W-where are you headed so early?” I stammered, continuing my awesome streak of saying stupid things. In my defense, I was fighting the urge to plaster myself against his body.
His eyes locked on mine and he smiled. “Don’t have class ’til eleven-thirty. Figured I’d check if anyone in a ten mile radius could use me.”
“Use you?” God, I’d use him six ways to Sunday. He ran his fingers through his hair and I bit my bottom lip. The way it fell back across his forehead...
He cleared his throat, eyes locked on my lip. I smiled to myself. He noticed me, too. “Mitch was very adamant that I find something to do with my spare time. So I’m trying to find a job, but it seems the best ones are already taken,” he admitted. He paused, eyes fixated on mine. “So, you’re really okay?”
                What?
                Oh, shit. Talking to me.
                Focus.
Focus. “Yeah, I am. Your car going to be okay?”
He nodded and looked back at his unfortunate mistake. “Cosmetic.” I smiled. “So I should get going.” He lifted up a hand in a low wave and started to walk away and I instantly felt his absence. Ugh. “See you in Law, Hazel.” My name sounded like warmed brown sugar on his tongue and I melted.
“Hey, Grayson!” He turned around and flashed his trademark smile. “Come by Billy’s tonight, I’ll give you a trial run,” I called with a wink before slapping down my visor and driving away.
This would either be the best idea I’ve ever had, or the worst.

“Dance with me, Mackenzie,” he said, holding my hand in his, sensually placing the other just below my hip bone. “What are you−” “Shhh…,” he admonished, expertly leading me in our dance, the band playing Cole Porter’s Every Time We Say Goodbye. “Just enjoy it and don’t think.” I simply nodded, turning my head to scan the restaurant. “Mackenzie, eyes on me. I need to know you’re with me.” I snapped my eyes back to his, my mouth slightly agape as my heart pounded in my chest. He was warm and spellbinding. The way he held me in his arms comforted me and made me feel as if they were made to hold me. “Are you with me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. “Yes,” I said, my voice soft. He leaned toward me and the bit of stubble on his chin brushed my skin. “Yes what?” he whispered. “I’m with you.” The corners of his lips turned up slightly and there was a spark about him that wasn’t present yesterday. “I like the sound of that, Miss Delano.” He pulled me closer and I tilted my head to peer into his striking eyes, needing the connection I felt at that moment. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, all because of a well-placed hand, a sinfully sexy voice, eyes that made me want to melt, and arms that felt like home. “Who would have thought that the Mackenzie whose lips I couldn’t stop seeing in my dreams last night would turn out to be Mackenzie Delano, proprietor of South Padre’s hottest new spot?” “How did−” “Shhh,” he said once more. “You think too much. Just enjoy the moment because it’s over once the band plays the final note to this melody.” I snapped my mouth shut, a strange awareness of loss washing over me at the prospect of this complete stranger walking away from me once the song came to an end, wondering if I would ever see him again. “You’re a lovely dancer, Miss Delano,” he commented. “Thank you,” I answered, unsure of whether to say anything further. He seemed to be in complete control of the dance, of his words…and of mine. And, for the first time, I was okay with someone else calling the shots. “You have a dancer’s body. I’m confident you’ve bewitched quite a few men with the way you can seamlessly navigate the dance floor.” He leaned toward me and whispered, “I must confess… You’ve bewitched me.” His voice was sweet as it crooned in my ear, and I was left a silent, blubbering mute, the sincerity in his declaration sparking a renewed sense of longing I had ignored for years. My breathing grew ragged, and I was unable to formulate any response. I simply lost myself in the moment of our dance, wanting his sensual words to ring in the recesses of my mind for all eternity. I wished I could have recorded his voice murmuring those endearing words to me so I could replay them over and over again when I needed to feel something I didn’t think I would ever feel again. He molded my frame to his, our bodies swaying to the classic tune, and began to sing along with the band. I imagined he was singing to me, and me alone. His voice was deep and guttural, but sweet as he leaned toward my neck and crooned the last verse into my ear. I closed my eyes, losing myself in his warmth, his voice, his everything. All too soon, the final note rang out, silence encompassing the room, but we continued to sway to the music in our heads, our rhythm perfectly in tune to each other. A loud drum kick echoed, startling me, and I opened my eyes, almost expecting it all to be a dream. But it wasn’t, and I was met with my mysterious stranger’s strong face. Time stood still as we simply stared at each other, neither one of us moving. I licked my dry lips, nerves causing my breathing to grow more intense and labored. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his soft lips, placing a kiss on it. The contact caused a rush of adrenaline to run through me. Before I could ask his name, he was gone, leaving me stunned and alone once more.
